Throat Lozenges. or not…

Writer: Christie ChadwickChristie Chadwick

Things don’t always go as planned. This used to infuriate me. Especially if I was the one responsible. Years of practice at “letting things go” by way of meditation, taking a moment to reflect, doing something else to distract myself and of course using a few essential oils to calm down, I’ve gotten pretty good at not freaking out. This was just another case of “well that didn’t work out like I had hoped“.

I found a recipe on Pinterest (nothing ever comes out like the picture right?) for throat lozenges using Young Living essential oils. It seemed easy enough.

The recipe called for: 1/2 cup coconut oil 1/2 cup local honey 10-20 drops of YL Thieves Essential Oil Blend I used 10 drops Thieves and 10 drops of Copaiba EO.

Mix, melt, freeze.

yeah…that didn’t work.

I didn’t have the little candy mold that it called for, but I figured I can make one big lozenge and then cut it up into smaller pieces after it’s frozen . Well, it turns out the that the honey separated from the coconut oil. Oops. So instead of having a fit and throwing it away, I decided to put it in a jar and use it in tea. I’ll take about a teaspoon full of the mixture and put it into a cup of *almost boiling water. Tastes good and its very soothing to the throat. Not what I intended, but it still does the trick.
